Evangelism

Evangelism, now there is a word that often makes people uncomfortable. What do you think it means? Ol Mr. Webster says "it's spreading of the Christian Gospel by public speaking or personal witness." Honestly that is probably a pretty accurate description of what most people think it is. But I had a new idea introduced to me today while reading a small book by John McArther called Found: God's Will. I read this book several years ago, but as I am learning, if we are not fully open to God then what we take in will not have the same effect on us. In this book John says "Evangelism involves living a Godly life in the face of an ungodly world." This is a concept that had not occurred to me before. I had learned that I should lead by example, though I routinely fail in this department. But I had never thought that simply by living for God to the best of my ability I could lead others to Christ. I think the trick is to do it to the BEST of our ability, which I think we often dilute simply because we just do not feel like it, or whatever other excuse we come up with to justify our shortcomings. We may not always be at our best, but we should always be mindful and always ry to be at our best.
